Rather expected game when 6th ranked Gernika (11-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Universitario de Ferrol (14-6) 86-82. Strangely Gernika outrebounded Universitario de Ferrol 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by international power forward Beatriz Sanchez (190-89, agency: ProDep Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Alexis Prince (188-94, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 25 points. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by Mozambican power forward Leia Dongue (185-91) did not help to save the game for Gernika. American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Universitario de Ferrol maintains fourth position with 14-6 record. Gernika at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Universitario de Ferrol's next round opponent will be Gipuzkoa UPV (#5) in San Sebastian. Gernika will play at home against Araski and hope to win that game.
