Regular Season Round 24: Vestri - Hamar 97-99

Important game to mention about took place in . Fourth ranked Hamar (15-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-best Vestri (15-7) 99-97 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 35-22 last quarter charge of Vestri cut the lead to 99-97 at the end of the game. Hamar made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Vestri 50-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. Hamar players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by American guard Julian Nelson (196, college: Coker) who scored that evening 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Larry Thomas (185-93, college: Birm.Southern) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hamar's coach Ingvarsson Petur allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 26 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists by Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) did not help to save the game for Vestri. Center Adam Olafsson (196-97) added 20 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Five Hamar and four Vestri players scored in double figures. Hamar moved-up to second place, which they share with Breidablik. Vestri at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Hamar will play against FSU (#8) in Selfoss in the next round where they are favorite. Vestri will have a break next round.
