Regular Season Round 24: Valladolid - Ourense 81-93
Date: February 23, 2018
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Blancos de Rueda (11-13) and Ourense (9-14), which took place in Valladolid. Higher ranked Blancos de Rueda lost at home to fourteenth ranked Ourense 81-93. It looked good early as Blancos de Rueda took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ourense had a 18-12 second period charge getting the lead and Blancos de Rueda was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-93. It was a great shooting night for Ourense especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Reginald Johnson (191-94, college: Hampton, agency: Slash Sports) who added 18 points and 7 assists during the contest. Rozitis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) with 22 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) scored 15 points. Five Ourense and four Blancos de Rueda players scored in double figures. Blancos de Rueda's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ourense have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourteenth position with 9-14 record. Newly promoted Blancos de Rueda dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Palencia and Araberri. Ourense will play against league's second-placed CB Prat at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blancos de Rueda will play against Araberri (#11) in Vitoria-Gasteiz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
