Regular Season Round 19: Doxa Lefkadas - Psychiko 82-77

Very expected game when 10th ranked Psychiko (8-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Doxa Lefkadas (11-8) 82-77 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 15 points after three quarters before their 29-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Doxa Lefkadas made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game, while Psychiko only scored twelve points from the stripe. Psychiko was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for forward Nikos Angelopoulos (205-84, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). Point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) answered with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and naturalized American swingman Nicholas Paulos (201-92, college: NC-Greensboro) added 18 points in the effort for Psychiko. Five Doxa Lefkadas and four Psychiko players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Doxa Lefkadas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis and Kastoria. Psychiko lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Doxa Lefkadas will face Ethnikos (#9) in Pireus in the next round. Psychiko's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Doukas.
