Regular Season Round 20: Adelantados - Picken Claret 68-76

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Adelantados (14-6) against sixth ranked Picken Claret (13-7) on Saturday night. Host Adelantados was defeated by Picken Claret in a tough game in San Cristobal 68-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Adelantados. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-17. But Adelantados won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Picken Claret won last quarter 18-12. The winners were led by forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Esther Saez (178-97) supported her with 17 points. Five Picken Claret players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by center Lucia Mendez (182-88) did not help to save the game for Adelantados. American forward Caira Washington (188-95, college: G.Washington) added 8 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Picken Claret have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas. Adelantados at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Leganes. Picken Claret will play against Alcobendas (#5) at home in the next round. Adelantados will play against Real Canoe in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
