Regular Season Round 24: Mondragon - Pielagos 75-92

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Mondragon (7-15) lost at home to fourth ranked Pielagos (15-7) 92-75 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pielagos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a good game for power forward Daniel Garcia (203-97) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Brais Gago (180-96) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Pielagos players scored in double figures. Guard Iker Barbero (192-92) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Mikel Basterra added 9 points and 6 assists in the effort for Mondragon. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pielagos moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Easo. Loser Mondragon dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Pielagos will face Valle de Egues (#14) in Olaz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mondragon will play on the road against Easo in San Sebastian and hope to win that game.
