Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Venta de Banos (5-17) was edged at home by thirteenth ranked Obradoiro II (8-14) 79-77 on Saturday. Venta de Banos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Obradoiro II forced 25 Venta de Banos turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Rodrigo Gomez who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Rafael Garcia contributed with 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Davante McCallam (203-91, college: Chadron St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Alejandro Young (194-97) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Venta de Banos. Four Venta de Banos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Obradoiro II moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-B, which they share with Naron and Culleredo. Venta de Banos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Obradoiro II will face higher ranked Carbajosa (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Venta de Banos will play against Innova Chef (#9) in Zamora and hope to win that game.
