Regular Season Round 20: Ascensores Tresa - Cortegada 79-62

An interesting game took place in Gijon where higher ranked Cortegada (11-9) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Ascensores Tresa (7-13) 79-62. The game was mostly controlled by Ascensores Tresa. Cortegada was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ascensores Tresa players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cortegada's players. Argentinian Isabella Sangali orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four Ascensores Tresa players scored in double figures. Swingman Salome Garcia (175-92, agency: ProDep Management) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) added 15 points in the effort for Cortegada. Cortegada's coach Ruben Dominguez rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ascensores Tresa have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Ascensores Tresa maintains eleventh position in Group A with 7-13 record. Cortegada at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Ascensores Tresa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Joventut LC (#7) in Barcelona and it may be quite challenging game.
