Regular Season Round 22: Gent Hawks - Gistel Oostende 80-77

A very close game took place in Gent between Gent Hawks and Gistel Oostende. Ninth ranked Gent Hawks (10-9) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Gistel Oostende (10-11). Gent Hawks managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 18 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Gent Hawks made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Gistel Oostende's players. Four Gent Hawks players scored in double figures. Simon Buysse (193-97) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and Croatian forward Luka Kotrulja (196-98) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Gistel Oostende's coach Sam Rotsaert tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gent Hawks have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Soba. Loser Gistel Oostende dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Gent Hawks will meet Melsele (#9) on the road in the next round. Gistel Oostende will play against the league's second-placed Oxaco and hope to secure a win.
