Very predictable result when fourth ranked Miedzychod (16-9) beat on the road 9th ranked AZS UMK Torun (11-12) 88-83 on Saturday. They outrebounded AZS UMK Torun 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Miedzychod looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was center Lukasz Kwiatkowski (207-79) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Mikolaj Smarzy (191-99) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Radoslaw Plebanek (190-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Zbigniew Malinowski (188-84) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Five Miedzychod and four AZS UMK Torun players scored in double figures. AZS UMK Torun's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Miedzychod maintains fourth position in Group A with 16-9 record. Loser AZS UMK Torun keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Miedzychod will face higher ranked Koscian (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. AZS UMK Torun will play against Tarnovia (#11) in Tarnowo Podgorne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
