Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Rioja and 8th ranked Arxil Pontevedra had identical 9-10 record. But Arxil Pontevedra was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Azkoitia 82-75 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and the other American import guard Brenae Harris (178-92, college: Toledo) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. British guard Chantel Charles (178-94, college: Maine) responded with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Arantxa Mallou (181-91) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rioja (10-10) moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Joventut LC. Arxil Pontevedra lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Rioja will face higher ranked Aros Patatas (#3) in Leon in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Arxil Pontevedra will play on the road against Lima-Horta (#10) in Barcelona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
