Regular Season Round 19: Arkadikos - Ermis Agias 62-61

A very interesting game took place in Arkadia. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Ermis Agias (9-10) to fourteenth ranked Arkadikos (5-14) 62-61 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It looked good early as Ermis Agias took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Arkadikos took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. Arkadikos shot 21 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Ermis Agias only scored three points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Ermis Agias helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Savvas Tsougarakis (207-86) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Prodromou is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international forward Nestoras Kommatos (203-77) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Savas Chrysopoulos (200-89) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Four Ermis Agias players scored in double figures. Ermis Agias' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Arkadikos maintains fourteenth place with 5-14 record. Newly promoted Ermis Agias keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Arkadikos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Karditsas (#13) and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
