Regular Season Round 19: Asker - Gimle Pride 56-50

The game between second ranked Gimle Pride (10-6) and fourth ranked Asker (9-6) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Gimle Pride was defeated by Asker in a tough game in Rykkinn 50-56. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 17-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Asker dominated down low during the game scoring 110 of its points in the paint compared to Gimle Pride's 86 and made 67-of-70 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. Asker forced 26 Gimle Pride turnovers. Strangely Gimle Pride outrebounded Asker 117-103 including a 74-62 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Asker looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Asker made 63 blocks. 40 personal fouls committed by Gimle Pride helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds. Forward Julie Wilborn (182-98) helped adding 10 points and 5 rebounds. Asker's coach Pernille Mellem used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Ingeborg Gjengsto (165-94) responded with 17 points and guard Karoline Falch-Monsen (169-98) scored 8 points. Asker moved-up to third place, which they share with Hoybraten. Gimle Pride at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
