Sixth-ranked Grengewald (9-12) made lots of trouble for Contern (15-6) in Niederanven on Saturday. The visitors from Contern managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Grengewald outrebounded Contern 44-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Brittany Hodges (185-93, college: Furman) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Katie Rutan (173-90, college: Maryland) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Cori Coleman (173-93, college: Cleveland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds and Morgan Pullins (183-93, college: St.Mary's, TX, agency: Two Points) added 26 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Contern are looking forward to face Musel Pikes (#4) in Stadrbredimus in the next round. Grengewald will play on the road against T71 Dudelange and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
