Regular Season Round 24: Trefl II Sopot - Politechnika Gd. 59-75

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Trefl II Sopot (10-15) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Politechnika Gd. (13-10) 75-59 on Sunday. Politechnika Gd. forced 25 Trefl II Sopot turnovers. Strangely Trefl II Sopot outrebounded Politechnika Gd. 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Politechnika Gd. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Robert Kolka (184-93) who scored 31 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Center Filip Pruefer (208-96) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Sebastian Walda (195-0) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and center Jakub Motylewski (210-95) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Politechnika Gd. maintains eighth position in Group A with 13-10 record. Loser Trefl II Sopot keeps the tenth place with 15 games lost. Politechnika Gd. will face league's second-placed Asseco II in Gdynia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Trefl II Sopot will play on the road against the league's leader Pelplin (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
