Regular Season Round 16: Olympiacos Volou - Esperides 72-71

A very close game took place in Volou (derby !!!) between Olympiacos Volou and Esperides. Tenth ranked Olympiacos Volou (4-12) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Esperides (6-10). Olympiacos Volou managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Sunday evening. Olympiacos Volou made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. The winners were led by FYR Macedonian guard Ana Tanturovska (174-90) who scored that evening 22 points and American power forward Sherise Williams (191-93, college: Mississippi St.) supported her with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists by American guard Ariana Moorer (170-91, college: Virginia) did not help to save the game for Esperides. Forward Christina Litsi (180-96) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four Esperides players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Olympiacos Volou maintains tenth position with 4-12 record. Esperides lost fifth consecutive game. Esperides at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Proteas. Olympiacos Volou will meet at home higher ranked PAOK (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Esperides will play against Proteas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
