Regular Season Round 30: Hitachi Cougars - Denso Iris 55-81

The game in Hitachinaka supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Denso Iris (24-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Hitachi Cougars (9-21). Denso Iris smashed Hitachi Cougars 81-55 on Sunday. Denso Iris dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Cougars to just 6 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 32 and made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 46-24 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who scored 32 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Saki Matsumoto (176-94) who recorded 13 points and guard Yagi Kasumi (163-92) added 11 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denso Iris have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyota A. Hitachi Cougars lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 21 games lost. Denso Iris will meet league's leader JX-Eneos S. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Cougars will play against Niigata R. (#12) and hope to secure a win.
