Regular Season Round 30: Haneda Vickies - Mitsubishi K. 58-89

Rather predictable result in Tokyo where sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (18-12) smashed 9th ranked Haneda Vickies (8-22) 89-58 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Haneda Vickies managed to win fourth quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda Vickies' 20. Mitsubishi K. forced 22 Haneda Vickies turnovers and outrebounded them 48-35 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mitsubishi K. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mitsubishi K. made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Power forward Yuka Kosuge (180-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Makoto Hoshizawa (181-95) who recorded 9 points and Arisa Takagi (168-89) added 11 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mitsubishi K. maintains sixth position with 18-12 record. Loser Haneda Vickies keep the ninth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Aishin AW. Mitsubishi K. will meet Toyota B SR (#7) in the next round. Haneda Vickies will play against Yamanashi QB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
