Regular Season Round 24: Coruna II - Culleredo 91-94

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Culleredo and 14th ranked Coruna II had identical 7-14 record. But Coruna II was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Culleredo 94-91 on Sunday night. Culleredo forced 21 Coruna II turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Coruna II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American swingman Ryan Burnett (196-92, college: Columbus St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Eduardo Lada (187-98) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Burnett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Pablo Lopez-Pizarro (185-97) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Coruna II. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Coruna II's coach Fernando Buendia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Culleredo (8-14) moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-B, which they share with Obradoiro II and Naron. Coruna II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Culleredo will face league's second-placed Gijon at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Coruna II will play against Ponferrada CDP (#8) and hope to win that game.
