Regular Season Round 25: Gniezno - Olsztyn 82-61

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Olsztyn (6-19) was outleveled on the road by seventh ranked Gniezno (15-10) 82-61 on Sunday. Gniezno looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Olsztyn's players. It was a very good performance for Michal Szydlowski (197-87) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. Center Szymon Budnikowski (200-84) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Gniezno players scored in double figures. Forward Rafal Chudzik (198-84) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian point guard Ante Markoc (188-93) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Olsztyn. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gniezno. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Domino Inowr. Olsztyn lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Gniezno will face Domino Inowr. (#5) in Inowroclaw in the next round. Olsztyn will play at home against Miedzychod (#4) and hope to win that game.
