Regular Season Round 4: Mexcaltecas - Acereras 82-58

Mexcaltecas' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Acereras (0-4) 82-58 on Sunday. Mexcaltecas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Acereras' 30. They outrebounded Acereras 38-12 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Toni Smith (183, college: Fresno St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-89) supported her with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Even 19 points by Sandra Hernandez did not help to save the game for Acereras. Alejandra Jimenez added 15 points for lost side. Acereras' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Mexcaltecas (1-3) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Quetzales. It was Acereras' fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Mexcaltecas will meet at home Quetzales (#7) in the next round. Acereras will play against Gamos and hope to get finally their first victory.
