There was no surprise in Madrid where 13th ranked Olimpico 64 (4-16) was defeated by eleventh ranked Distrito Olimpico (5-14) 73-67 on Sunday. Olimpico 64 was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Distrito Olimpico made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game, while Olimpico 64 only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Olimpico 64 43-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpico 64 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Elena Diaz (188-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds and swingman Maria-Jose Bolonio (180-85) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Beatriz Parada (179-86) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Sara Gines scored 10 points and 5 assists. Four Olimpico 64 players scored in double figures. Olimpico 64's coach Javier Zamora tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Distrito Olimpico moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Almeria and Promete. Loser Olimpico 64 keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Distrito Olimpico will face higher ranked Magec Tias (#8) in Las Palmas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olimpico 64 will play on the road against CVCD Granada (#9) and hope to win that game.
