Regular Season Round 24: L Alfas - Cartagena 55-63

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Cartagena (9-9) won against higher ranked L Alfas (11-7) in Alfas Del Pi 63-55 on Sunday. L Alfas trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 16-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 55-63 at the end of the game. It was a good game for Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Clinton Parker (183, college: Ancilla CC) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Power forward Alejandro Rivas (203-98) replied with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks and American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-92, college: San Francisco St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for L Alfas. Cartagena have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with Lliria. Loser L Alfas dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Cartagena will face higher ranked Valencia-2 (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. L Alfas will play against UAF Lucentum in Alicante and hope to win that game.
