Regular Season Round 4: Quetzales - Gamos 30-74

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Ciudad de Mexico: Gamos (#2) and Quetzales (#6). Quetzales were smashed at home by 44 points 30-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Gamos held Quetzales to an opponent 14.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Quetzales 40-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gamos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Quetzales' players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Nancy Fermin (-90) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Kenia Heredia contributed with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Izchel Valdez replied with 4 points and 5 rebounds and Damaris Tapia added 5 points in the effort for Quetzales. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gamos maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Lobas, which they share with Aztks. Quetzales at the other side keep the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Mexcaltecas. Gamos is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Acereras (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Quetzales will play against Mexcaltecas in Tepic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
