Regular Season Round 24: Gnupverjar - Skallagrimur 95-96

Seventh-ranked Gnupverjar (7-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Skallagrimur (18-3) in Reykjavik on Sunday. The visitors from Borganes managed to secure only one-point victory 96-95. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 30-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Skallagrimur forced 23 Gnupverjar turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Gnupverjar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording 46 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and swingman Eyjolfur Halldorsson (194-98) who added 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and point guard Gabriel Moller (182-99) scored 24 points. Skallagrimur have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-3 record. Newly promoted Gnupverjar keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. Skallagrimur are looking forward to face Snaefell (#5) in Stykkisholmur in the next round. Gnupverjar's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena Fjolnir.
