Regular Season Round 23: Novipiu Casale - Bertram Tortona 88-90

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Novipiu Casale (17-6) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Bertram Tortona (14-9) 90-88. They made 30-of-34 free shots (88.2 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Novipiu Casale helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Melvin Johnson (193-93, college: VCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). The former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and American guard Jamarr Sanders (193-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Bertram Tortona maintains fifth place in A2 with 14-9 record. Novipiu Casale at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Bertram Tortona are looking forward to face higher ranked Legnano (#4) in Castellanza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Novipiu Casale will play on the road against Cuore Napoli and is hoping to win this game.
