Regular Season Round 22: Martorell - Albacete 67-74

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Albacete (14-8) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Martorell (4-18) 74-67 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American center Babatunde Olumuyiwa (203-92, college: USC Upstate) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard David Jofresa (185-95) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and forward Albert Homs (201-94) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Albacete moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Avila. Martorell lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Albacete will face Zamorano (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Martorell will play against Real Canoe in Madrid and hope to win that game.
