Rather expected game in Stockholm where 11th ranked Akropol (2-14) was edged by eighth ranked KFUM Central (8-8) 75-72 on Sunday. Akropol trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 20-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-75 at the end of the game. KFUM Central forced 20 Akropol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Akropol was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Ibrahim Marong (190-91) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Tecle Bymnet (190-96, college: San Francisco CC) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Baba Dibba (183-97) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Diego-Gonzalez Morin (-93) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Akropol's coach Jonny Ishak tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. KFUM Central moved-up to sixth place, which they share with BG Lulea. Akropol lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. KFUM Central will face Jamtland II (#8) in Ostersund in the next round. Akropol will play at home against Sundsvall and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
