Second Stage Round 6: Beroe - Partizan 65-66

Important game to mention about took place in Stara Zagora. Fifth ranked Serbian Partizan (6-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked Bulgarian Beroe (3-9) 66-65 on Wednesday evening. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 25-20 run, which allowed them to win the game. Partizan forced 22 Beroe turnovers. It was a good game for power forward Ivanka Matic (193-79) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Ashley Claussen (168-94, college: S.Oregon, agency: Lebedintsev Andriy) contributed with 20 points and 5 steals for the winners. Violina Kocheva (175-91) replied with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Teodora Dineva (178-96) added 19 points and 4 steals in the effort for Beroe. Despite that victory Partizan went down to ninth position due to points difference. Beroe lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Tresnjevka. Partizan will play against higher ranked Buducnost (#7) in Podgorica in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Beroe will play on the road against Montana 2003 (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
