Regular Season Round 35: Kataja Basket - Lapua 105-73

Very expected game when 11th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (6-25) was smashed on the road by seventh ranked Joensuun Kataja (17-13) 105-73. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Joensuun Kataja dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lapuan Korikobrat's 32. They outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 48-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Joensuun Kataja players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Lapuan Korikobrat's players. American players dominated also this game. It was a great evening for swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SE Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Wesley Saunders (196-93, college: Harvard) helped adding 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja's coach Greg Gibson felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Nick Kellogg (190-91, college: Ohio) responded with 21 points and Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kouvot. Lapuan Korikobrat lost fourth consecutive game. Lapuan Korikobrat at the other side stay dead last with 25 lost games. Joensuun Kataja will play against KTP-Basket (#8) in Kotka in the next round. Lapuan Korikobrat will play at home against Espoo United and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
