Second Stage Round 6: Crvena Zvezda - Medvescak 70-53

There was no surprise in Beograd where 6th ranked Croatian ZKK Medvescak (4-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (7-5) 70-53. The game was mostly controlled by Crvena Zvezda. ZKK Medvescak was better in fourth quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Crvena Zvezda made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while ZKK Medvescak only scored four points from the stripe. Crvena Zvezda players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Point guard Aleksandra Katanic (172-97, agency: BeoBasket) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Snezana Bogicevic (177-97) supported her with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by center Patricia Bura (188-96) did not help to save the game for ZKK Medvescak. Point guard Matea Tadic (167-99) added 11 points and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Crvena Zvezda went down to eighth position due to points difference. Defending Croatian champion ZKK Medvescak dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. Crvena Zvezda's next round opponent will be higher ranked Celje (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. ZKK Medvescak's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Zagreb Tresnjevka.
