Regular Season Round 21: Marghera - Sesto SG 48-76

Leader Sesto SG recorded the nineteenth victory on Wednesday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Marghera (11-10) 76-48 in Venezia. Sesto SG dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Marghera's 20. The best player for the winners was guard Virginia Galbiati (173-92, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who scored 23 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Elisa Ercoli (190-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Irene Pieropan (175-91) who recorded 14 points and swingman Marta Granzotto (175-92) added 17 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sesto SG maintains first place in A2 with 19-2 record. Loser Marghera dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Sesto SG will face Milano (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Marghera will play against the league's second-placed Costa Masnaga and hope to win that game.
