Regular Season Round 44: Libertadores - Capitanes 86-104

Very predictable result in Queretaro where third ranked Capitanes (25-14) defeated 10th ranked Libertadores (11-29) 104-86. Capitanes shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 39 assists comparing to just 25 passes made by Libertadores' players. The winners were led by the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach Ramon Diaz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) by American power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) did not help to save the game for Libertadores. His fellow American import forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA) added 26 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Capitanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Mineros. Libertadores lost fourth consecutive game. Libertadores at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the tenth position with 29 games lost.
