Regular Season Round 20: Nancy - Fos-Provence 63-66

Important game to mention about took place in Nancy. Third ranked Provence Basket (15-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked Sluc Nancy (12-8) 66-63 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-9. But Sluc Nancy won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Provence Basket won last quarter 22-20. Strangely Sluc Nancy outrebounded Provence Basket 34-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Xavier Gaillou (192-89) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 assists and Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU) who added 17 points during the contest. American guard Dewayne Russell (180-94, college: Grand Canyon) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Mickael Var (205-90) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Provence Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-5 record behind leader Blois. Sluc Nancy at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Provence Basket will play against SPO Rouen (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Sluc Nancy will play against JA Vichy and hopes to get back on the winning track.
