Regular Season Round 43: Libertadores - Capitanes 87-103

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Capitanes (24-14) beat 10th ranked Libertadores (11-28) in Queretaro 103-87 on Friday. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Libertadores' 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Pedro Meza (186-85, college: Arizona W. CC, agency: Pro Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 assists. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach Ramon Diaz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA) came up with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) added 23 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Libertadores in the defeat. Capitanes moved-up to third place. Libertadores lost their third game in a row. Libertadores at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the tenth position with 28 games lost. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Libertadores will play again against Capitanes (#3) and hope to secure a win.
