Regular Season Round 23: Norrkoping - BC Lulea 82-78

Round 23 in Basketligan means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Norrkoping where host Norrkoping Dolphins (17-6) beat league's leader BC Lulea (16-6) 82-78 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Norrkoping Dolphins made 28-of-29 free shots (96.6 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by BC Lulea helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international Mikael Lindquist (193-83) who scored 29 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). The former international center Joakim Kjellbom (212-79, college: N.Arizona) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Brandon Rozzell (188-89, college: VCU) produced 27 points and the other American import guard Quinton Upshur (196-93, college: N.Arizona) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Norrkoping Dolphins have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion BC Lulea dropped to the second place with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Norrkoping. BC Lulea will play next round against Uppsala Basket trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Norrkoping Dolphins will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked KFUM Jamtland in Ostersund.
