Regular Season Round 23: Amsterdam - Groningen 81-87

Eredivisie top team - Groningen (17-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Amsterdam (6-15) 87-81. It looked good early as Amsterdam took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Groningen had a 22-19 second period charge getting the lead and Amsterdam was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-87. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Brandyn Curry (187-91, college: Harvard, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 13 points and 8 assists. The former international swingman Dimeo Van-Der-Horst (197-91) responded with 16 points and 9 assists and Max Van-Schaik (210-91, agency: Court Side) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Groningen have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Amsterdam at the other side keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Groningen will play against Rotterdam (#5) at home in the next round. Amsterdam will play against Zwolle and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
