Regular Season Round 20: Vichy Clermont - Poitiers 94-72

Date: March 2, 2018
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked JA Vichy and 13th ranked Poitiers had identical 7-12 record. This time JA Vichy used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Poitiers 94-72 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by JA Vichy. Poitiers was better in third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Poitiers to just 7 points in fourth quarter. JA Vichy looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Poitiers was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. David Denave (193-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) contributed with 8 points and 12 assists for the winners. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. American-Dominican guard Anthony Goods (191-87, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 22 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American guard Morris Curry (181-87, college: Providence) added 13 points in the effort for Poitiers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JA Vichy (8-12) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Caen and Evreux. Loser Poitiers keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. JA Vichy will face higher ranked Sluc Nancy (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Poitiers will play against ALM Evreux (#10) and hope to win that game.
