Regular Season Round 25: Olsztyn - Gniezno 68-97

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Gniezno (15-10) outplayed on the road 12th ranked Olsztyn (6-19) 97-68 on Saturday. They outrebounded Olsztyn 46-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gniezno looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for forward Dariusz Dobrzycki (193-84) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Michal Szydlowski (197-87) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gniezno players scored in double figures. Croatian point guard Ante Markoc (188-93) answered with 17 points and 5 assists and power forward Jaroslaw Andrusiewicz (201-86) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Olsztyn. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gniezno. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Domino Inowr. Olsztyn lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Gniezno will face Domino Inowr. (#5) in Inowroclaw in the next round. Olsztyn will play at home against Miedzychod (#4) and hope to win that game.
