Regular Season Round 25: Valladolid Univ. - Ardoi 74-86

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Valladolid Univ. (12-12) was defeated at home by bottom-ranked Ardoi (9-14) 86-74 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ardoi outrebounded Valladolid Univ. 42-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valladolid Univ. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and point guard Nicolas Uriz (183-96) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. At the losing side Javier Martinez (187-97) responded with 24 points and Alberto Garcia scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Ardoi maintains tenth place in Group A-A with 9-14 record. Loser Valladolid Univ. dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Ardoi will face league's second-placed Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
