Regular Season Round 26: Niigata Albirex - Toyota Alvark 99-92

Leading Toyota Alvark (29-11) recorded its eleventh loss on the court of fifth ranked Niigata Albirex on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Niigata Albirex 99-92. They made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) notched 43 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) supported him with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Niigata Albirex's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists by the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) did not help to save the game for Toyota Alvark. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Toyota Alvark lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with 11 games lost. They share it with Chiba Jets. Niigata Albirex will meet Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Hitachi Sunrockers.
