No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Iskra Svit (19-14) smashed at home 8th ranked Handlova (8-25) 89-58 on Saturday. Iskra Svit dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 32. Iskra Svit forced 19 Handlova turnovers and had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Anthony Jackson (196-89, college: Florida Tech) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. Coach Michal Madzin's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Marcus Tyus (185-94, college: Omaha) with 15 points and 5 steals and Serbian swingman Jovan Djordjevic (198-93) scored 13 points. Iskra Svit maintains fifth place with 19-14 record, which they share with Rieker KN. Handlova lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 25 games lost. Iskra Svit will meet Zilina (#9) on the road in the next round. Handlova will play against Rieker KN and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
