Regular Season Round 26: Chiba Jets - Hitachi SR 89-48

Rather expected game when 4th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (22-18) were smashed on the road by second ranked Chiba Jets (29-11) 89-48 on Saturday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 32. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 50-26 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Hitachi Sunrockers' players. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) contributed with 7 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) replied with 19 points and American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) added 9 points in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 18 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Shimane Magic (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
