Very important is a road loss of third ranked Iraklis (15-5) against seventh ranked Kastoria (12-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Iraklis was defeated by Kastoria in a tough game in Kastoria 78-83. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-21 Iraklis' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-78 at the end of the game. Kastoria made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Iraklis was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by power forward Stamatis Benas (206-85) who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Tasos Charismidis (203-81) supported him with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Kastoria players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 4 assists by FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for Iraklis. Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kastoria moved-up to fifth place. Iraklis at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Kastoria will play against Marousi (#11) in Athens in the next round where they are favorite. Iraklis will play at home against Amyntas Dafnis (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
