Regular Season Round 21: Civitanova - Bologna 81-57

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bologna (15-4) against fifth ranked Civitanova (13-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Bologna was crushed by Civitanova in Civitanova Marche 81-57. Civitanova dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Bologna's 30. Civitanova forced 20 Bologna turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for guard Giorgia Bocola (180-0) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 steals for the winners. Four Civitanova players scored in double figures. Civitanova's coach Donatella Melappioni felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Raelin DAlie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Federica Nannucci (170-91) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Bologna. Civitanova maintains fifth place in A2 with 13-6 record. Bologna at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Civitanova will play against Umbertide (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bologna will play against the league's second-placed RR Retail Galli (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
