Rather predictable result when second ranked Daugavpils Universitate (14-6) smashed at home 5th ranked Liepajas SSS (9-10) 96-50 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Daugavpils Universitate. Liepajas SSS was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Daugavpils Universitate dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Liepajas SSS's 32. Daugavpils Universitate forced 33 Liepajas SSS turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Liepajas SSS's players. Forward Jolanta Rimsa (176-98) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Santa Kotele (-93) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Point guard Ieva Baumane (172-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Luize Briede scored 12 points. Liepajas SSS's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Daugavpils Universitate have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Daugavpils Universitate maintains second position with 14-6 record having four points less than leader TTT Riga. Liepajas SSS lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Daugavpils Universitate will have a break next round. Liepajas SSS will play on the road against the league's leader Tartu U.
