Regular Season Round 25: Guadalajara - Real Madrid II 69-76

There was no surprise when 5th ranked CB Guadalajara (14-9) was defeated at home by second ranked Real Madrid II (19-4) 76-69 on Sunday. CB Guadalajara trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 29-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 69-76 at the end of the game. Real Madrid II dominated on the defensive end, holding CB Guadalajara to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Swedish guard Melwin-Jan Pantzar (190-0) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners and Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88, agency: Duran International) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Real Madrid II's coach Javier Juarez used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American CJ Dunston (196-94, college: Lancaster Bible) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and forward Raul Lazaro (195-87) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four CB Guadalajara players scored in double figures. Real Madrid II maintains second place in Group B with 19-4 record having just five point less than leader Vic. CB Guadalajara lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Real Madrid II will face league's leader Azuqueca at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CB Guadalajara will play against Tenerife Naut. (#6) in Santa Cruz de Ten. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
