The most exciting game of round 17 in the A1 took place in Lefkadas. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Dafni Agioy (10-7) to sixth ranked Niki Lefkadas (9-8) 109-106 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dafni Agioy. Niki Lefkadas made 32-of-40 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American forward Peyton Whitted (190-95, college: Penn St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and international swingman Elena Tsineke (174-99) chipped in 30 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) responded with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international guard Roula Mouli (178-85) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five Niki Lefkadas and four Dafni Agioy players scored in double figures. Dafni Agioy's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niki Lefkadas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Athinaikos and PAOK. Dafni Agioy at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Niki Lefkadas is looking forward to face higher ranked Panionios (#3) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dafni Agioy will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos and is hoping to win this game.
