Regular Season Round 22: Gernika - Avenida 60-77

LFB top team - Perfumerias Avenida (21-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Gernika (11-11) 77-60. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning next two quarters and won the game by 17 points. Perfumerias Avenida dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Gernika's 26. Montenegrin-American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia, agency: ProDep Management) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-1 record. Gernika lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Perfumerias Avenida are looking forward to face Mann Filter (#3) in Zaragoza in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gernika will play on the road against Gipuzkoa UPV (#5) in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
