Regular Season Round 22: Araski - Gipuzkoa UPV 62-86

Not a big story in a game in Vitoria-Gasteiz where 11th ranked Araski (9-13) was rolled over by sixth ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (12-9) 86-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa UPV. Araski managed to win third quarter 20-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Araski 40-27 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Croatian point guard Iva Brkic (167-85, agency: ProDep Management) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Jillian Alleyne (190-94, college: Oregon) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and Irati Etxarri (187-98) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Araski's coach Madelen Urieta already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gipuzkoa UPV moved-up to fifth place. Araski at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres. Gipuzkoa UPV will meet at home Gernika (#7) in the next round. Araski will play against Campus Promete in Logrono and hope to secure a win.
